Energy Report with Bright News for Solar Industry

According to an analysis by the International Renewables Energy Agency (IRENA), the United States increased green energy jobs by 6% in 2015 to reach 769,000 jobs.  While this is a good trend in the US, it represents a small fraction of global renewable energy employment which is at 8.1 million jobs.

In the study, solar was split into three categories: photovoltaic (PV), heating/cooling, and concentrated solar power (CSP).  In all solar makes up almost 46% of the global renewable energy job market.

In the US, Solar grew by 22% for 209,000 jobs in 2015.  That is more growth than the in oil and gas extraction (187,200) or coal mining (67,929).
